Last updated: 18 October 2026 (extension version 1.0.0)
The short version: Pounce On It has no backend. It does not collect, transmit, sell or share your data. Everything it records stays in your own browser, on your own device.
Pounce On It is a Chrome extension published by Out of Office Travels ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what the extension does with information.
What the extension does
You browse airline websites while logged in, as usual. The extension reads the award (points/miles) availability those pages show and records it locally so you can review it in the extension's dashboard. A scan opens airline pages for the routes you choose and records what those pages return, then stops itself.
What is stored, and where
Stored only in your browser's local extension storage (Chrome storage and IndexedDB), on your device:
- Award availability: programme, route, dates, cabins, miles, taxes and fees, seat counts, flight numbers, departure and arrival times, aircraft.
- Your settings and target routes.
- Scan progress and the extension's status.
This information is not sent to us or to anyone else. We operate no server that receives extension data. There is no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, advertising or tracking of any kind.
What is not collected
- No account credentials or passwords. The extension never reads or stores them.
- No name, email address or frequent-flyer number. The extension extracts only flight-availability fields; any profile data present in a page response is ignored and is never stored or transmitted.
- No browsing history. The extension runs only on the airline domains listed in its permissions and does not observe any other website.
- No location data, device identifiers or advertising identifiers.
Permissions, and why they are needed
- Read and change data on the listed airline websites — to read the award availability those pages show. During a scan, on British Airways and Singapore Airlines, the extension fills the site's own search form and clicks results exactly as you would manually. It does not change anything on an airline's servers or in your account.
- Tabs — to open and manage the search tabs a scan uses, and to detect when a session has been logged out so the scan can pause.
- Storage — to keep captures, settings and scan progress locally.
- Alarms — to schedule scan cycles.
- Notifications — to tell you when a scan completes or pauses.
Third parties
No third-party service receives extension data. The extension contains links (for example, a Ko-fi donation link and a feedback email link) that open external sites only when you click them; those sites have their own privacy policies.
How your data is used and shared
Because the extension transmits nothing, there is no sharing to describe. For clarity, and consistent with the Chrome Web Store's Limited Use requirements:
- We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties.
- We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose.
- We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
Retention and deletion
Data remains on your device until you delete it. You can remove individual captures in the extension dashboard, or uninstall the extension, which removes its local storage.
Children
The extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
This policy describes version 1.0.0 of the extension, which stores data only on your device. If a future version changes what is collected, stored or transmitted — for example, an optional sync feature — this policy and the Chrome Web Store listing will be updated before that version is published. Any such feature will be described here in plain language, and previous versions of this policy remain available in this site's public repository history.
